Supporting programme at Security Essen provides impetus for more security

Whether the optimal use of drones, the latest developments in cyber security or innovative ideas for the protection of financial institutions: With its supporting programme, Security Essen 2024 offers valuable knowledge, concrete strategies and recommendations for action for current challenges. The leading security trade fair with around 500 exhibitors will take place at Messe Essen from September 17 to 20. On all days of the fair, trade visitors can network with the best minds in the security industry in lectures, conferences and live demonstrations and thus gain a decisive information advantage in a constantly evolving world.

Julia Jacob, Project Manager of Security Essen, reveals: “The supporting programme of Security Essen 2024 is our innovation platform for the transfer of knowledge in the security industry. This is where specialists and visionaries come together to experience and shape the future of the industry.” Most of the events are deliberately held directly in the exhibition halls. This means that participants benefit from short distances and direct contact opportunities.

Focus on cybersecurity: DNS conference

The DNS Digital Networking Security Conference opens the supporting programme and is dedicated to the pressing issues of digital security. On September 17 and 18, current incidents, important interfaces between corporate and IT security, legal requirements and practical examples of implementation will be discussed.

Among others, intelligence and crime analyst Mark T. Hoffmann will provide insights into the psychology of cybercrime in his presentation “Profiling Hackers”. Other speakers will focus on pentests, the use of AI, live hacking and the protection of Microsoft 365 environments. Participation in the event in Hall 7 is free of charge.

Training and further education day

On September 17, the promotion of young talent will also be the focus of Security Essen. The Training and Further Education Day, which the Federal Association of the Security Industry (BDSW) is organizing together with Messe Essen, is aimed at young talents, trainees and career starters. They will learn how virtual reality can be used in security training. The BDSW also honors the best trainees.

More security for financial institutions: Day of Banks and Savings Banks

Spectacular explosives attacks on financial institutions have made headlines in the past. The Day of Banks and Savings Banks on September 19 shows how institutions can protect themselves. Thomas Stieff from the Federal Criminal Police Office will present the German initiative to reduce attacks on ATMs. Manufacturers will also be providing information on new protection against explosives, high-security high-speed doors and the use of AI in the banking sector, among other things. The Day of Banks and Savings Banks is organized by the International Association of the Physical Security Industry ESSA in Hall 6 and is free of charge for trade fair visitors.

First European drone symposium

The first European Drone Conference, which will take place on September 19 and 20, will shed light on the diverse applications of drones in the security industry. The aim of the conference organized by BDSW, the Confederation of European Security Services CoESS and Messe Essen is to promote interdisciplinary networking between all stakeholders. The spectrum of topics ranges from the use of drone technology in Germany and drone deployment conditions for authorities and organizations with security tasks to the training of drone pilots, the protection of critical infrastructures and drone management or drone defence. Visitors to the trade fair can also attend the symposium in Hall 7 free of charge.
